Newcastle set to revive interest in Blackpool winger Ince

Newcastle are set to revive their interest in Blackpool winger Thomas Ince with a view to a January move.

The 21-year-old is out of contract at Bloomfield Road in the summer and Toon boss Alan Pardew is ready to take advantage of the situation and make a fresh bid for the talented midfielder when the January transfer window reopens.

The former Liverpool star, who was a reported target for Tottenham last summer, hit 18 goals for the Tangerines in last season’s Championship and has followed it up this year with six strikes in 12 games.

But with the north London club’s interest cooling, the Toon Army are willing to match Blackpool’s valuation of the England Under-21 international and bring him to St James’ Park.

Ince’s potential arrival on Tyneside would provide a huge boost to a Newcastle side on the up after impressive victories over title challengers Chelsea and Spurs.

The Magpies, who currently sit in ninth in the Premier League just three points off sixth spot, are 22/1 with Ladbrokes to finish in the top six and if Pardew can win the race to sign the young attacker those odds could shorten in the coming months.

But Swansea and Cardiff both still remain in the hunt for Ince and Blackpool, managed by Tom’s dad and former England international Paul, have not given up hope of extending the player’s contract beyond the summer.

Meanwhile, Newcastle – 200/1 outsiders to finish in the top four – are also in the race to sign Ince’s England Under-21 colleague Wilfried Zaha from Manchester United.

With David Moyes ready to let the 21-year-old go on loan in order to get some first team action, Everton, Fulham, Stoke and Aston Villa have all been linked with the former Crystal Palace striker.

But reports suggest Pardew’s men are at the front of the queue for his signature and if Joe Kinnear can earn his worth by completing deals for both Zaha and Ince, Newcastle could be a banker to finish in the top ten at 8/11.
