Ozil, Eto’o and Samaras all have their prices hiked to score first!

| 06.11.2013

With Arsenal, Chelsea and Celtic all in Champions League action, Ladbrokes are up to their old tricks as they’ve ramped up the odds on three more big names to hit the onion bag first in their respective group clashes.

Mesut Ozil is 14/1, out from 10/1, to score first against Dortmund

Arsenal’s £40m midfield maestro returns to his home country looking to make his mark at the Westfalenstadion.

A guaranteed starter, Ozil has gone four games without a goal after a run of five-in-five for club and country, suggesting he may just be due one here at Dortmund.

He’s already shown what he is capable of in this competition by bagging a stunning opener against Napoli on matchday two.

Samuel Eto’o is 11/2, out from 9/2, to score first against Schalke

Off the mark in his fledgling Chelsea career with a well taken goal against Cardiff in the Premier League, Eto’o is no stranger to scoring at the very highest level with a near one-in-two European competition record for numerous heavyweight clubs.

His case is made even stronger here by the absence of Fernando Torres through injury, meaning the Cameroonian is almost guaranteed a start by Jose Mourinho.

Eto’o has a fantastic record against German sides too, having scored eight times in 16 appearances against them for various clubs, including Barcelona.

Georgios Samaras is 12/1, out from 8/1, to score first against Ajax

The stakes couldn’t be higher for Celtic, as completing the double over Ajax in Amsterdam would very much keep alive their hopes of qualification.

Integral to their cause will be Greek international Samaras, who rediscovered his scoring boots in his last Bhoys appearance against Partick and is viewed as the go-to man in Europe after being rested especially against Dundee Utd.
