Wigan v Zulte-Waregem: Two bets stand out as moneymakers
Published:Bearing in mind that Zulte-Waregem are unbeaten in six games and currently sit in the lofty heights of second in the Belgian top-flight, Wigan’s price of 17/20 to beat them at the DW Stadium, does look a little short.
A victory for Wigan would ensure their qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League from Group D, assuming that Rubin Kazan also pick up at least a draw from their home clash with bottom-club Maribor.
This knowledge may drive Wigan to play with more attacking zest and they have only been beaten on their road trip to Rubin so far.
However, there does appear to be two better bets than siding with the home win in this Europa League showdown.
The first relates to the lack of goals that have become a regular feature of Wigan games of late, with seven of the last eight going under the 2.5 goals line. Meanwhile, six of this eight have seen no more than a single goal scored.
Under 2.5 goals again here is available at a lucrative-looking 3/4, with 23/10 a fair price on under 1.5 goals.
The other interesting market relates to Zulte goals, as the Belgians have been far more prolific of late after the interval in comparison to the opening period.
Zulte have scored eight goals across their last four games in all competitions and the only first-half goal in this period was a penalty.
Furthermore, in four of their last five games, Zulte have scored more goals after half-time than in the opening 45 minutes.
It is 9/4 that Zulte score their first goal against Wigan in the second half and 19/10 that Zulte score more goals in the second period than the first.
