Dunfermline can sully Rangers win by scoring in TV showdown

Rangers can get back to winning ways away to in-form Dunfermline, but Jim Jeffries’ potent Pars can breach their visitors to land odds of 27/20 about a ‘Gers victory and both teams to score in front the Sky Sports cameras.

The festive season’s sporting bounty is far from done as, by way of tiding football punters over until their next Premier League fix, a Scottish League One table-top clash in the offing.

Coming hot on the heels of Rangers’ first failure to triumph in 20 games, this floodlit affair is all the more intriguing.

Ally McCoist’s side were profligate in the extreme against the Dumfries and Galloway outfit and their wobble will give Dunfermline redoubled hope of cutting their lead at the top of the table.

The Teddy Bears’ boo-boo on their way to a second successive promotion may have given their hosts increased cause for confidence, but McCoist’s charges are arguably an even tougher proposition abroad on the highways and byways of bonnie Scotland than they are in Glasgow.

They’ve shipped just three goals (which all came in the one game at Brechin) and scored at least twice in six of their seven league road trips.

Yet the hosts have been shut out just twice in 24 fixtures this term and they’ve been in tasty nick in front of goal of late, ringing the alarm seven times in their last couple of outings.

Such has been the strength of Dunfermline’s form that a 3-1 Ibrox reverse ranks as the sole defeat in their last 11 games.

That dance was a good deal closer than the scoreline suggests, with all Rangers’ goals notched after the Pars lost Jordan Moore to a 71st-minute dismissal.

Nonetheless they were able to breach the League One champions-elect with 10 men on that occasion and could well do so again to sweeten up odds on an away win.

Jon Daly has been a particularly reliable source of away goals on his travels for Rangers recently and it could be his hunger for goals that proves the difference in Dumfries.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 has struck at least once in four of his last trespasses beyond the Ibrox walls and, given he broke the deadlock in three of those fixtures, the 5/2 about him posting first at East End Park could be worth another look.
