Millwall vs Middlesbrough: Expect goals in relegation battle

Published:

Whilst the revered Steve Lomas remains in charge at Millwall, club legend Tony Mowbray got the boot at Middlesbrough earlier this season. Even though both sets of fans had very different stances toward their club’s manager, both have struggled to move away from the lower reaches of the Championship table.

Millwall may have stuttered their way through the season so far, but at home they are one of the stronger sides in the league having remained unbeaten in their last 7 at The Den. In contrast, the appointment of Aitor Karanka is yet to spark Boro into life. Having won just one in their last eight games, it would be something of a surprise if they picked up all three points here.

Ladbrokes are 8/5 that Millwall continue their good form and get a win against Middlesbrough.

Whilst many matches toward the bottom of the table can often produce bore draws, expect something a little different here, particularly with Millwall on show. Six of their last seven have seen three goals or more whilst six of The Lions’ last eight have seen both teams score.

+2.5 goals is 11/10 whilst Both Teams to Score is 17/20

With neither side looking like they have a striker capable of scoring 20+ this season, there is no out-and-out forward that would attract a a first goalscorer punt.

However, striker Steve Morrison has scored in his last three appearances, two of which have been as a first goalscorer. His odds to bag the first goal sit at the rather alluring price of 5/1.

Meanwhile, forward Albert Adomah has been one of the bright sparks of a pretty dim season for Boro. He poses a slightly healthier option at 7/1 to get on the scoresheet first for those punters looking for a bit more bang for their buck.
