And the Florida side showed plenty of fight in their two subsequent fixtures – a shootout defeat to the New York Rangers and an overtime win against Nashville – which could make this an intriguing contest.
The Canadiens may begin as favourites but having lost three of their last four and with the Panthers on course for a third straight win over Montreal, stranger things have happened.
A tip that represents something approaching an open goal, the Flames head to the Pepsi Center off the back of four straight NHL losses with Colorado well positioned for victory.
The Avalanche have been in great form of late, winning three on the bounce ahead of this clash with Calgary. They have also got the better of the Flames in recent contests, winning their previous two meetings this season. Need I say any more?
