Ladbrokes best odds on Man City winning unprecedented quadruple

Published:

The Man City machine was at its destructive best against West Ham in the first leg of the pair’s Capital One Cup semi final. Their 6-0 win is surely more than enough to see them through to the final of the competition.

Their attacking arsenal is fearsome at its worst and the depth in their squad is unrivalled, so the 150/1 that says they break new ground and celebrate a quadruple this season must be worth a quid.

After decimating the Hammers at the Etihad, divine intervention is probably the only thing that can prevent Manuel Pellegrini’s men reaching the final of the Capital One Cup, a trophy they’re heavily fancied to win at 4/9, and it’s their strength at home that lends favour to their multiple trophy winning aspirations.

Almost unstoppable at the Etihad – they’ve won 14 of 15 on home soil – there are few grounds opponents will dread going to more than Man City’s and this imperiousness will benefit them, especially in the Champions League and Premier League.

Matches contested over two legs, as was the case in the Capital One Cup, can be settled in the home leg, alleviating pressure when they’re away, where the club haven’t been anywhere near as rampant this term.

The FA Cup is a slightly different proposition, where one difficult away tie could spell the end of their quadruple dream, but so long as they’re guaranteed to play at home, they can’t be discounted.

On this basis, a punt on the 40/1 for City to hoist the Premier League, Champions League and Capital One Cup may well appeal.

The number of goals they concede, for many, is what will prevent them prevailing in Europe’s premier competition. The 10 goals they shipped in qualifying for the knockout stage of the Champions League is far too high given the calibre of opponent they faced and the better teams – those whom they won’t score six goals past – will take advantage of this.

For those of the opinion that European glory is beyond City, a wager on the domestic treble is available at 12/1.
