Path clear for Liverpool to land top French midfield target

Liverpool will be all systems go in the transfer market after one of their top targets confessed of his burning desire to move to the Premier League.

Yann M’Vila, who was a long-time Arsenal target before trading boyhood club Rennes for Russian outfit Rubin Kazan, has declared, via his agent, that he dreams of moving to the English top-flight, leaving the Reds seemingly unrivalled in bringing him to Anfield.

Having switched allegiances last January, M’Vila has made a great impression in the Kazan Arena this season, making 28 appearances in all competitions for his Russian owners this season and laying on four assists in that time.

A defensive midfielder known for his superb opposition-stopping abilities and Hulk-ish physical attributes, the Frenchman should settle quickly into the fast-paced, brutish demands of the Premier League, much like Sandro at Tottenham.

The 23-year-old is an impressive passer of the ball too, as his stats in the Russian Premier League indicates.

He leads all teammates with 58.2 average passes per game, completing an impressive 86 per cent of them, which is also a Kazan best mark.

Liverpool, who are the 8/11 fourth favourites to finish in the top four and 9/1 to land the league title, could certainly do with beefing up their defensively-minded midfield section, with Lucas Leiva an obvious talent, but prone to injury and hardly an imposing physical specimen.

A move for the 22-capped international would therefore suit the Reds perfectly and all indications are that it shouldn’t be too difficult coaxing the player over.

His agent, Werner Baader, said: “I think many players dream of playing in the Premier League – Yann is no different.”

There isn’t likely to be a club M’Vila would like to land at more than Liverpool either, as he’s thought to have been a keen Reds supporter growing up, and was recently spotted taking in the last Merseyside derby.
