England in-form XI: Chelsea exile joins West Ham hero in lineup

| 24.02.2014

While Roy Hodgson was out playing ambassador at the Euro 2016 qualification draw, he missed Kevin Nolan running riot on a Premier League pitch for the third week running.

After a break for the FA Cup, we’ve done the hard yards for him to put together this week’s in-form XI. How do you think this lot will fare against Italy on June 14?

John Ruddy minds our net for the second consecutive week having kept Tottenham at bay for a clean sheet, including a vital late save from Nacer Chadli. His price to make Brazil remains at 4/5.

Along the back line John Terry not only popped up with the late, late winner against Everton but delivered a faultless performance that reminded Hodgson just how capable he is at the top level. He’s 3/1 to go to Rio.

From the same game, Phil Jagielka (1/14) joins him at the heart of the defence after dominating the aerial battle with Samuel Eto’o

A name from left-field at left-back, as Liam Rosenior (a huge 40/1 punt) switched from his accustomed right side with ease in Hull’s 4-0 decimation of destined-wooden-spooners Cardiff, picking up an assist for his troubles.

In the middle of the park Jake Livermore (40/1) gets the nod after grabbing the Tigers’ fourth goal and picking up an assist to boot.

Alongside him, Jordan Henderson looks a great bet at 6/5 after his lung-bursting runs through Swansea’s midfield brought him two goals and the man-of-the-match award.

Somewhat surprisingly, West Ham’s Nolan is still priced up at 40/1 to make the Brazil-bound plane, despite occupying the number 10 spot for an unprecedented third week. He scored his fifth goal of the month and set up another against Southampton.

A Liverpool and Man United-dominated front three sees Raheem Sterling (6/4) and Daniel Sturridge occupy the flanks while Wayne Rooney celebrated his new United deal with a superb goal and debut appearance on the graphic every Englishman wants to adorn before the lucky-23 are announced.
