Three Galatasaray players backed to score against Chelsea

Published:

Two years on from their European Cup triumph over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena Chelsea are set for a Champions League reunion with the hero of the night Didier Drogba and it could be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Currently playing for Galatasaray, the Ivorian is one of three players picked out to replicate their famous win over Juventus in Istanbul and grab a goal against Chelsea.

The Turkish giants are the current 3/1 outsiders for victory with Ladbrokes while a draw can be backed at 23/10 and the Londoners are evens for the win, but should one of the three big names on the Gala books deliver, it could be a different story.

Didier Drogba to score anytime @ 5/2

Some questioned Galatasaray’s decision to bring Drogba back from China in 2012 but despite amassing just six goals in 17 games during his debut season in Turkey, the Ivorian has improved this term with 12 strikes in 31 outings for the club.

He’s quickly developing a habit of scoring crucial goals in the Champions League for Roberto Mancini’s side, including one in a 3-1 win over Copenhagen and the opener in their pivotal 2-2 draw with Juventus earlier in the campaign.

Wesley Sneijder to score anytime @ 10/3

It was Sneijder’s well-taken goal against Juve in the final fixture of the group phase that saw Gala progress and given his goalscoring form and dead ball ability, he’s certainly one to watch when Chelsea come to town.

A solid 10 goals in 26 games this term is no mean feat for a midfielder and having already played a goalscoring role in Inter Milan’s success in this competition back in 2010, as well as for Holland at the World Cup that same year, the 29-year-old has it in his locker to score in the big occasions.

Buruk Yilmaz to score anytime @ 5/2

Yilmaz made history last term after scoring in a record six consecutive Champions League games for Gala, as well as becoming the first Turkish player since Tuncay Sanli to score a hat-trick in the competition.

But despite a haul of eight goals in nine European cup fixtures last term, the 28-year-old has failed to find the net on the continent this term. He remains in prolific form domestically however, amassing 12 goals in 21 appearances and could break his Champions League duck against the Blues.
