Liverpool attempting to bring Argentine whizzkid to Anfield

Liverpool are thought to be lining up a summer move for a 20-year-old Argentine striking prodigy, but face stiff competition from Real Madrid for his signature.

Luciano Vietto of Racing Club has caught the eye of Liverpool’s south American scouting network who’ve been keeping close tabs on the precocious talent since 2011.

And according to the player’s agent the Reds are not the only top club who are clamouring for Vietto’s signature.

‘We know that many top clubs are following Vietto,’ said agent Jorge Cysterpiller.

‘There is a lot of competition to sign him. Liverpool we know like him and so do Real Madrid – I think also two German teams.

‘I think he could move at the end of the European season.’

The revelations arrive just ahead of Liverpool’s mammoth clash against Arsenal, which will go some way to determining whether they really are good enough to stay in the Premier League’s top four.

Liverpool have been fantastic at home this season, but the Gunners are the first of the top three to visit Anfield to date.

Ladbrokes have the hosts marked as the slenderest of 13/10 favourites, with the draw at 12/5 and the Arsenal win an 11/5 shot.

If Liverpool do end up succeeding in their 4/7-rated mission to break back into the Champions League places this season, then snaring talent such as Vietto will become a lot easier.

The Argentina U20 star is very quick and clever centre-forward whose style has already drawn comparisons to Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero.

This is high praise indeed for the young forward, who has netted twice in his last four appearances for his country.

Brendan Rodgers is a known advocate of developing young talent rather than buying players at their peak so the Reds would appear to be a good fit for Vietto.
