Adebayor the man to finally smash Chelsea’s proud home record

| 08.03.2014

Chelsea’s ridiculously long Premier League unbeaten streak at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho has already been pushed to the cusp of breaking point by the likes of West Brom this season, who were denied a famous triumph in controversial circumstances.

However, like the Berlin Wall back in 1989 which had stood for nearly 30 years, that record is about to crumble at the hands of Tottenham, who can use in-form Emmanuel Adebayor as their battering ram.

This London derby is a case of this season’s best home record coming up against the league’s most profitable away side and we believe there’s enough evidence to suggest a huge result could be on the cards for Tottenham.

Ladbrokes understandably see Mourinho’s league leaders as the short 8/13 favourites, with Tottenham the long 9/2 outsiders and the draw – which has been the prevailing result in the last two renewals at the Bridge – an 11/4 compromise.

Spurs fans will be only too aware that their side have not left the Kings Road with a victory to celebrate since Gary Lineker was on the scoresheet way back in 1990.

While the playing styles and similarities between the crisp-pedalling pundit and Adebayor are a little tenuous, the latter can be forever remembered with the same fondness by ending his club’s hoodoo here.

Having scored in six of his last seven league assignments outside of White Hart Lane, Adebayor can be backed at a tantalising 7/1 to score first and 9/4 to find the onion bag anytime.

Chelsea have been grinding out results, but have been riding their luck too, which Spurs can capitalise on.

Against Everton in their last home match, had the Toffees been more clinical they could have gone into the break two or three goals up instead of falling to a stoppage-time winner.

In fact, sluggish starters Chelsea, have only scored one first-half goal in their last four domestic fixtures and that arrived on 45 minutes.
