Orient can condemn the Magpies and march on to Championship

None of the players involved below had to fret this week about whether they are part of Roy Hodgson’s plans for Brazil which is just as well as one of the most exciting divisions in the world continues to rise to the boil. Below are previews of three of League One’s weekend’s fixtures with the away-day treble paying out £266.32 to a £10 stake.

Crewe to beat Peterborough @ 7/2

Peterborough are in danger of throwing their season away with successive defeats to Sheffield Utd and Crawley and although they will be happy to return home their recent record in front of their own fans hardly inspires confidence as they host an improving Crewe.

With only two wins from their last six at London Road, relegation-threatened Crewe will not be daunted about their assignment and have been accumulating confidence for some time.

Steven Davis’ side have picked up 11 points from their last eight games which isn’t form that will bring home many trophies but should be good enough to secure their survival.

A last-gasp goal grabbed a point at home to Swindon last week and they will rightly be thinking they can cause an upset or at the very least avoid defeat.

Carlisle to beat Port Vale @ 21/10

Port Vale are in no-man’s land in the league, too far detached from the play-off race and clear of the relegation picture. And unfortunately for Vale supporters it has shown with three defeats on the trot.

Conversely Carlisle don’t need to look far for motivation as they only have two points separating them from the dreaded dotted line. They have responded well, however, with two wins in their last three including a vital away day win against Coventy last month.

Last week’s stalemate at home to high-fliers Brentford won’t have harmed their pursuit of League One football next term and at the prices they represent one of the best bets on the coupon.

Leyton Orient to beat Notts County @ 10/11

Last week’s 6-0 defeat to Rotherham looked to be the death knell for Shuan Derry’s hapless side and a fourth consecutive defeat looks highly likely against favourites for automatic promotion, Leyton Orient.

Just when the Magpies needed it most their performances have been woeful and both the towel and white flag were seen blowing in the wind last week.

In complete contrast, Orient are regaining the winning thread at just the right time and another comfortable outing away from London is in store.
