The three PSG men who can break Chelsea hearts

| 02.04.2014

Chelsea head to the French capital this week hoping to put the abject performance against Crystal Palace behind them and dent PSG’s hopes of reaching the Champion’s League semi finals.

However, while Blues boss Jose Mourinho is no stranger to the challenges posed by the latter stages of the competition, having lifted the trophy with both Porto and Inter Milan, the Premier League outfit go into the tie as  5/2 underdogs.

The Parisiens – 11/10 match favourites – are flying high at the top of Ligue 1 thanks to a tally of 71 goals and with the strikes also racking up in the Champions League we’ve picked out three likely anytime scorers to dent the west Londoners’ hopes of progress.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 11/10

An obvious choice maybe, but at odds against the giant Swede can be viewed as a licence to print money.

If PSG are to score at home  – as they have done for 11 consecutive Champions League games – then Zlatan is the most likely to find the back of the net.

His 39 goals from 42 appearances this year mean the 32-year-old is cruising to yet another league title and with 10 of those strikes coming in seven European outings Chelsea will struggle to contain PSG’s star man.

Edinson Cavani – 7/4

The Uruguayan may operate in the huge shadow cast by his strike partner, but with Zlatan struggling against English opposition in the past – scoring just three in 15 attempts – the better price on the former Napoli man should tempt.

The 27-year-old has not been as prolific as the Swede but with 18 strikes in 31 games – including four in six in Europe – he will be only too happy to oblige should the Blues defence pay too much attention to Ibrahimovic.

Alex – 9/1

Former Blues defender Alex is renowned for finding the back of the net having done so 48 times in his career.

The free kick specialist has eight European goals to his name and is no stranger to scoring against English opponents, having netted against Arsenal in a standout performance while on loan at PSV.

The towering Brazilian poses a serious threat from set pieces – either as the trigger man or in the box – and with a £10 stake returning £100, the ex-Chelsea man should be backed to leave the visitors feeling blue.
