Put it all on Orient with our three best bets for play-off clash

Published:

Leyton Orient may have suffered an alarming end of season slump to miss out on automatic promotion.

But their performance against Peterborough in their League One play-off semi-final first leg suggests Russell Slade’s side are not willing to let their second chance slip through their hands.

The O’ left London Road with honours even following a 1-1 draw in Cambridgeshire but on home turf they can make their superiority count.

Here are our three best bets to have for the return fixture with Orient set to make all the headlines.

Both teams to score and Leyton Orient to win – 31/10

In each of the pair’s last six encounters both sides have found the back of the net and with it all to play for at Brisbane Road, expect another open contest.

Posh have triumphed in two of their last three visits to east London but this O’s outfit is a different proposition.

With 37 goals conceded on their travels this season – the same number as relegated Shrewsbury – the visitors look vulnerable with the hosts’ 44-goal haul at home a sign of their prowess on their own patch.

Dave Mooney to score anytime – 11/8

O’s striker Dave Mooney has netted three times in as many of his previous appearances against Peterborough and looks a good bet to add to his tally of 21-goals this term in all competitions.

The Irishman is also his team’s penalty taker, successfully converting both of his opportunities from the spot in 2013-14.

Home Team over 1.5 goals – Evens

Quite possibly the banker of the evening, Orient can be trusted to deliver in front of their own fans with a front four of Mooney, Kevin Lisbie, first leg scorer Moses Odubajo and Dean Cox packed full of goals.

The home side have scored two goals or more in over half of their League One games this season, going over the 1.5 line on 24 occasions.
