Wales U21 v England U21: Berahino our bet to net in Euro qualifier

| 19.05.2014

Gareth Southgate’s England U21 side look good value to secure a sixth straight win when they make the relatively short trip to Swansea to take on their Welsh counterparts at the Liberty Stadium.

Victory for the Young Lions would be the perfect sign-off before the team head to France for Toulon’s World Youth Festival and see them extend their six-point lead over Moldova at the top of Group 1.

William Geldart picks out three best bets to back in this Euro 2015 qualifier.

Berahino to score at any time @ 10/11

West Brom’s Saido Berahino has been a breath of fresh air since graduating to the under-21 set-up, scoring five times in six appearances during the current qualifying campaign.

Berahino was guilty of wasting opportunities to extend England’s lead in their 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture but with the Toulon Festival next on the agenda the Burundi-born Baggie will be eager to nail down a starting spot in Southgate’s team.

Having already shown what he’s capable of on the international stage this season, expect the frontman to be prominent as England try to unlock a stubborn Welsh defence.

Total Goals under 2.5 @ Evens

Only Nathan Redmond’s 56th minute strike separated these two teams when they met in Derby back in March and another cagey encounter could be in store.

The hosts have become far more dogged in recent matches, conceding just two goals in their previous five outings.

Meanwhile, England have shipped just one goal during the current qualifying campaign meaning this contest could easily be another low scoring affair.

England U21/England U21 @ 11/10

The Young Lions may have struggled to break the deadlock in the team’s previous encounter.

But overall throughout Euro 2015 qualifying England have been fast starters and we’re backing them to be quick off the mark again here.

England have led at half-time and full-time in five of their seven matches in Group 1 and it’ll be no surprise to see them in front at the interval before going on to secure victory.
