Ladbrokes News readers pick Belgium to win the World Cup

Published:

We asked the question on everyone’s lips and you voted in your droves to let us know who you think will win this year’s World Cup in Brazil.

The outcome? Belgium have been backed to cause an upset with the Red Devils available at a tempting 16/1 to lift the famous trophy in the Maracana on July 13.

Having polled 22% of the vote the team ranked 11th in the world by FIFA came out on top but will they show enough to become world champions?

Firstly, the Belgians need to escape Group H containing Algeria, Russia and South Korea with Ladbrokes going 6/5 that they at least reach the second round and 8/13 about Marc Wilmots’ side topping their section.

Can their so-called ‘Golden Generation’ (we’ve heard all that before) deliver on the biggest stage?

The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne are all hyped up ahead of the 20th edition of the World Cup and you’ve waded into the argument by tipping them to shine.

The result is less encouraging if you’re an England fan though, with just 2% of our readers voting for the Three Lions.

Roy Hodgson’s team are 28/1 outsiders to win the World Cup for a second time but according to our poll, it’s clear that those odds should be far longer.
