Who will you be supporting now England are out?

Published:

England may be on the first plane home from Brazil but with still three weeks left of the football carnival that is the World Cup we all need a new team to support!

Are you getting into the Samba spirit and supporting the hosts? Will you be wearing Orange as the tournament draws to a close? Are the dark horses Chile your pick? Or are you doing the unthinkable and backing Argentina?

That’s where Ladbrokes News and the Ladbrokes Life are here to help!

Whichever aspect of the Ladbrokes Life applies to you there’s a team to support and a bet to be had and here Oliver Yew takes a look at the five different options…

Professor’s Pick – Holland @ 15/2

Having claimed three wins from three in Group A Holland look a serious contender for glory in Brazil. With Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie, who have both scored three times, in excellent form and chasing the Golden Boot, Louis van Gaal’s side have the firepower to go all the way.

And with Mexico – a side who have gone out at the second round stage in the previous five World Cup finals – up next a quarter-final looks assured for the Dutch.

Gut Truster’s Pick – Argentina @ 7/2

One of the pre-tournament favourites, Argentina have failed to hit the heights expected of them so far but with second round qualification confirmed and an easy looking route to the final it’s hard to write Lionel Messi’s men off.

Switzerland, Belgium and Holland look the likely names to be standing in the way of La Albiceleste reaching the final and with the likes of Messi, Sergio Aguero, Angel  Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain yet to click, trust your gut and stick with Argentina.

The Believer’s Pick – Chile @ 25/1

Whether in a sweepstake or in an outright bet plenty of people have backed Chile for glory in Brazil, including TV number cruncher Rachel Riley.

The Countdown host delved through the record books and pulled out key patterns and indicators ahead of the tournament in a statistical study, commissioned by betting experts Ladbrokes, and the Manchester United fan’s findings led her to Chile.

The South Americans started the tournament at 40/1 but after reaching the second round, where they will face Brazil, they are now 25/1 for glory! #BELIEVER

Gernerous John’s Pick – France @ 17/2

If you’ve lumped on France to win then you’ll be sure to get the beers in if they go on to repeat their 1998 heroics.

The free-scoring French have been in fine form so far in Brazil and Les Bleus have seen their odds slashed from 22/1 to 17/2 but they still look excellent value to go deep into the tournament.

Karim Benzema has been the main man so far and with the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud also in the goals, it could be a profitable World Cup for France supporters.

Mr Brightside’s Pick– Brazil @ 3/1

There’s nothing worse at a World Cup than the host nation facing an early exit from the tournament so to keep spirits high we need Brazil firing on all cylinders.

Neymar’s form has kept the smiles on Brazilian faces so far during the finals and even Alan Shearer’s mate Fred got in on the scoring act against Cameroon.
