Ladbrokes have a market on who will be the next President of the EU Commission.

In an attempt to make the whole process more democratic, EU citizens were told that the result of the European elections would be “taken into consideration” when the heads of government decided who would get the job. The centre-right EPP group got the most seats, Juncker is their nominated candidate, therefore he gets the job, right?

Errr..maybe not. Now we are back to some familiar Euro horse-trading. Cameron doesn’t want him, and some other significant leaders (notably Merkel) don’t seem overly keen any more.

Take your pick from a ever lengthening list of other Europols who are being mentioned. Tony Blair at 100/1, anyone?
