Top 5 moments of 2013/14: West Ham war makes the list

That doesn’t mean a captivating 2013/14 competition has to be completely banished from the memory though, so we’ve dug into the archives to relive the five best moments from last term:
5) West Ham’s war with their manager
Hammers fans took football supporter unpredictability to new levels when they decided to boo their side off the field following a win, albeit a scrappy one, over 10-man Hull.
It prompted a typically bullish response from their unloved manager, Sam Allardyce, in what became one of the most iconic images of the season:
4) Sunderland’s escape
The Black Cats’ run-in was supposed to be the final nail in their survival coffin, but a draw against Manchester City was followed by four straight wins, including shock victories over Chelsea and Manchester United as the season came to an end.

2) Gerrard’s slip
After the rousing “don’t let this slip” speech Steven Gerrard gave his Liverpool players following their Man City win, he did just that against Chelsea and saw the Premier League title slide through his fingers.
1) Palace come back from three down against Liverpool
Liverpool were then subjected to the comeback of the season immediately after that Chelsea loss, as Tony Pulis was confirmed as a miracle worker in guiding Palace to a point having been 3-0 down.
It was defining moment of what was an utterly unpredictable and enthralling season.
