Top 7 Germany vs Argentina side bets: Klose to repeat 2010 feat

| 13.07.2014

This Sunday’s World Cup final is shaping up to be a memorable one not just for fans of Argentina and Germany but also lovers of all things football betting.

With markets covering everything from corners and cards through to the time goals will be scored and whether spot-kicks will be required, it’s a unique opportunity for Ladbrokes customers to seriously cash-in on some great markets and even better prices.

And to help you get in the mood we’ve picked out a couple of tempting markets alongside a few offering outlandish odds that could see you smiling come the final whistle.

Germany to score a penalty @ 15/2

Much has been made of the fact that the last time these two met in the final of the World Cup final 1990 Germany came away the winners with a goal from the penalty spot and while you can get 11/2 on a repeat score we much prefer the odds offered on a spot-kick for Die Mannschaft, who scored their only previous penalty at this tournament against Portugal.

Argentina to win on penalties @ 10/1

The Albiceleste squeezed passed Holland via penalty kicks in the semi-finals while it took a last-gasp Angel Di Maria goal to prevent a similar showdown against Switzerland. With Argentina wary of Germany’s attacking prowess, they could attempt to bore their way to victory.

Germany to win 4-0 @ 80/1

Diego Maradona was quick to ridicule Brazil after their 7-1 loss but he obviously has a short memory, having overseen Argentina’s 4-0 hammering at the hands of Die Mannschaft in 2010. Having scored five against Portugual and seven against the Selecao, a repeat isn’t out of the question.

Argentina to win 3-2 @ 50/1

Then again some will be hoping Lionel Messi can inspire a repeat of their 1986 win over Germany. Maradona was marked out of the game that day but popped up to set up the winner – his Barcelona-based successor could help Argentina do the same with a second 3-2 victory at these finals.

Miroslav Klose to score two or more @ 10/1

Fresh from breaking the all-time goalscoring record at the World Cup with a trademark tap-in against Brazil, a late cameo appearance in the final could see Klose come out all guns blazing, with the veteran keen to repeat the brace he scored against Argentina four years ago.

Lionel Messi to score and Germany to win @ 11/1

Arguably the best thing that could happen in this game would be for Lionel Messi to score early – a goal that would force Germany to go on the offensive. The fresher legs of Die Mannschaft could then come in handy, helping them sweep to a victory that would have looked unlikely after the opener.

Thomas Mueller to score and the match to be a draw @ 12/1

Mueller may be enjoying himself in Brazil, but rewind two years to the Champions League final and he was in agony. Scorer of the opener late on in the final against Chelsea, he watched as the Bavarians then succumbed to a late goal before losing on penalties. Do they have the bottle to avoid a repeat?
