Breaking Bets: Kane and Soldado tipped to net v QPR

Ladbrokes latest special from the Breaking Bets series taps into the relief felt by Tottenham fans after seeing Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado fire their side to victory against AEL Limassol in the Europa League.

The relief came in a triple wave. Firstly because Spurs came from behind to secure the valuable win, secondly because young Harry Kane showed he is continuing to progress with a well taken European goal and thirdly because expensive flop Soldado put a terrible miss behind him to find the back of the net.

Following the strike duo’s success Ladbrokes has priced up the pair to come good at the weekend and fire Spurs in front as they host London rivals QPR.

Punters can get the special price of 5/2 and the bookmaker will pay out if either man opens the scoring against Harry Redknapp’s newly-promoted Rs.

Despite hitting the winner in midweek Kane is not a guaranteed starter but if Soldado’s goal proves to be the strike that finally means a return to form then it shouldn’t matter if Kane features or not.

The Spaniard failed to live up to hype for the Lilywhites last year but even then managed to hit 11 goals for club and country.

This is not a huge return but the stats show that when the 29-year-old is in the mood for scoring he usually comes out the blocks well in games.

Of the 11 goals he netted last season, six came first in games and this is in keeping with the stats Soldado boasted when he was in a rich vein of form at Valencia.

In his last campaign in La Liga Soldado smashed an impressive 31 times for club and country in a spell that ultimately earned him a move to the Premier League.

A whopping 15 of those goals were seen to open the scoring so it would be no surprise to see him open proceedings at White Hart Lane this weekend.

Tottenham got their season off to a winning start with a 1-0 win over West Ham and are favourites to follow that up with three points against QPR at 4/9.

The Loftus Road outfit can be backed at 13/2 to cause an upset, while a share of the spoils is available at 10/3.
