Breaking Bets: Sanogo tipped for Arsenal success

| 04.08.2014

Another weekend of football action – both on and off the field – has left fans a little clearer about what lies in store for the season ahead.

Arsenal failed to win their own trophy despite a stunning performance from Yaya Sanogo, West Ham’s striking woes continued, Manchester United put Real Madrid to the sword and Blackpool fans were given reassurances about their playing squad.

Here James Curtis rounds up the best breaking bets relating to all the latest news.

Yaya Sanago to be top Arsenal scorer for 2014/15 @ 33/1

The 21-year-old Frenchman staked a claim for more first-team involvement by netting four of Arsenal’s five in the 5-1 Emirates Cup win over Benfica.

The Gunners were unable to lift the trophy after losing 1-0 to Monaco but Sanogo’s display was one positive to be taken from the annual tournament.

Alexis Sanchez looks set to be the main goal threat at the Emirates this season but with Olivier Giroud yet to live up to hype the likes of Sanago and Joel Campbell could get their chances.

Wayne Rooney to be top Manchester United scorer for 2014/15 @ 7/4

Rooney started his pre-season with a double double after netting consecutive braces against LA Galaxy and Roma.

The England man has failed to score in subsequent matches against Inter Milan and Real Madrid but will start the season as United’s main man with Robin van Persie set to miss the start of the new campaign.

United’s easy start could see Rooney instantly among the goals and rack up an unassailable lead over the Dutchman.

Spurs to keep a clean sheet against West Ham @ 19/10

The hapless Hammers have now played six pre-season games without picking up a win. More worrisome though is the Irons’ lack of firepower with no goals scored in the last two games and Andy Carroll a long-term injury concern.

Boss Sam Allardyce looks set to shun the experienced Samuel Eto’o in favour of younger targets but he’ll have to move quickly if his side are breach the Spurs defence on day one.

Blackpool to avoid relegation @ 11/10

Blackpool have had a torrid build-up to the new season, with the club having just eight registered players at one point.

The fans were given a silver lining over the weekend, however, with chairman Karl Oyston assuring fans that a full squad will be assembled in time for the new campaign. His words have impressed the bookies at least, with Ladbrokes offering a short 11/10 on the Tangerines to stay up.
