Everton v Arsenal: Gunners to get back to winning ways at Goodison

Published:

Over the years Arsenal maintain a healthy record at Goodison Park but in the corresponding fixture last season Everton ripped up the script and tore the Gunners to shreds in a 3-0 victory.

Romelu Lukaku was the main tormentor-in-chief that day alongside Steven Naismith and with the pair expected to line up against Arsene Wenger’s men again, Roberto Martinez’s side are 7/4 for a repeat victory.

Arsenal, who were made to work hard by both Crystal Palace and Besiktas last week, will be eager to get back to winning ways on Merseyside with the north London club 8/5 to take all three points back to the capital.

The draw, a result which occurred between the two sides at this ground two seasons ago, is available at 12/5 but looking away from the win-draw-win market, Ladbrokes News have come up with three alternative bets…

Both teams to score @ 7/10

While it wasn’t surprising to see Arsenal’s capitulation at Goodison Park last season after their difficulties on the road against their rivals at the top end of the league, it was a bit of a shock to see them not really threaten the Toffees’ goal.

Five of the last seven matches at Goodsion Park and 10 of the last 15 matches between the two sides in all competitions have seen both teams find the net.

With even more attacking talent on display for both sides than last season this looks like one bet you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to score anytime @ 4/1

The Ox has looked lively in his cameos off the bench against Crystal palace and Besiktas, with his brilliant solo effort nearly capping the perfect night in Turkey for his team.

Tolga Zengin was on hand to tip his shot onto the post to deny the England international on that occasion but with Wenger looking to freshen things up.

Chamberlain could be the one to benefit with a starting role.

If he can reproduce his substitute performances from the start then there is no reason why the 21-year-old can take one of the numerous chances the Gunners are sure to create.

Arsenal to win and both teams to score @ 19/5

Everton have not tasted the winning feeling since the back end of the last campaign with three defeats and two draws in pre-season followed by their 2-2 opening day stalemate with Premier League new boys Leicester.

On the other hand Arsenal may have not hit the heights form wise but they have added the Community Shield to their trophy cabinet and also made a winning start to their Premier League campaign.

And before last year’s 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park the Gunners were unbeaten in six against Martinez’s men winning three of those matches with both sides finding the net.

With that in mind and following on from the theme of backing both teams to score it could pay to back an Arsenal victory with goals for both sides at 19/5 with Ladbrokes.
