Ladbrokes price Suarez up for Clasico goal after ban is upheld

Arch-nibbler Luis Suarez will be in line to make his Barcelona debut in El Clasico when he’s finally eligible to play, after the Uruguayan’s four-month ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini was upheld.

In a strange symmetry to his last ban for gnawing Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, it’s a match against his new club’s most bitter rivals which awaits.

When Suarez was forced to miss the first portion of last season for Liverpool, his ban ended just before the Reds were due to play Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.

Brendan Rodgers wasn’t afraid to throw Suarez straight back into the action against the old foe and although he didn’t notch on his return, he went on to grab a brace in his very next appearance against Sunderland.

Now Suarez is in line to be reintroduced for Barca straight into the biggest game in club football at the Bernabeu and following the news, Ladbrokes have been quick to label a scoring return for the prolific striker as a 2/1 chance.

The case for marking a possible debut with a goal is given more credence as Suarez was successful in getting some of the stipulations from the original FIFA ban quashed.

The former Ajax hitman will be allowed to train with his new Barcelona teammates after the part of the ban prohibiting him from ‘all football-related activity’ was overturned.

However, the fact the Premier League’s Golden Boot winner of last season will still miss the first eight La Liga games is a hefty dent in Catalan hopes of the title.

Real Madrid are currently the odds-on 5/6 favourites with Barca next at 11/10.
