US Open Day 6: Murray to progress while dropping a set

| 30.08.2014

Things are heating up in New York as we reach day six of the US Open and with plenty of third round action in store Ladbrokes News have scoured the line-up for three best bets.

Read on to find out why you won’t want to miss out on these selections…

Andy Murray to beat Andrey Kuznetsov 3-1 @ 3/1

The British number one was back to something like himself in defeating second round opponent Matthias Bachinger in straight sets but faces another challenge when facing big hitting Andrey Kuznetsov.

Murray has not met the 23-year-old at any Grand Slam or ATP tour event but will have to be on his guard after the Russian beat Fernando Verdasco in five sets in the previous round.

But the British star, who had issues with his fitness in round one, should have the quality to book his place in the next round but we are backing him to drop his second set of the tournament.

Nick Kyrgios to beat Tommy Robredo @ 4/5

Kyrgios came to prominence with a run to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and his Grand Slam form shows no sign of slowing down just yet.

The Australian dispatched the experienced Italian Andreas Seppi in round two and now faces Tommy Robredo for a place in week two at Flushing Meadows.

The Spaniard pulled off a remarkable comeback against Simone Bolelli to recover from two sets down for victory but how much will that have taken out of the 16th seed?

Plenty in our book, so back the talented teenager to book his place in round four and keep the Kyrgios band wagon marching on!

Eugenie Bouchard to beat Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 2-0 @ 4/5

World No.31 Strycova took a set off Bouchard when they met on a hard court back in November 2013 but since then Bouchard has picked up her first WTA title, made her first Grand Slam final appearance and also reached the world’s top 10.

The pair’s last encounter came on the clay in May when the Canadian ran out the convincing winner in straight sets and we are expecting much the same in New York.
