Swansea v West Brom: Hosts good for sixth win in seven meetings

Published:

Swansea have scored first in their first two Premier League games this season, while West Brom haven’t in either of theirs.

Meanwhile, the Swans have also netted the opener in five of the six Premier League meetings between this pair, including all three on their home patch.

Angela Lansbury found the culprit without such high-quality evidence in the 264 transmitted episodes of Murder She Wrote and punters won’t need a magnifying glass to find a better bet here.

Ladbrokes are offering a nice price of 3/5 that Swansea strike first.

As for who may get that goal, this will need far greater investigating.

Gylfi Sigurdsson initially looks a prime candidate at 7/1, given he has either scored or assisted all three of his team’s top-flight goals so far.

However, Garry Monk has spoken of possibly switching formation to two up top, which will enable him to partner summer signing Bafetimbi Gomis with Wilfried Bony.

This would have ramifications for Sigurdsson, as he would probably be shunted into a wide position from the central role off the striker that has suited him so well to date.

And this is one reason why it may pay to play it safe by betting on Bony to open his league account for the campaign.

It is not for the want of trying that last season’s 16-goal hitman is yet to find the scoresheet, as he has fired in five shots across Swansea’s opening two matches and hit the target with four of them.

Not every goalkeeper is going to thwart him in the way that Burnley’s Tom Heaton did and his luck is sure to change eventually. Ladbrokes are offering a generous best industry price of 9/2 that Bony breaks the deadlock.

Alternatively, Gomis is slightly larger at 6/1, having struck the only goal in his first start for the club in the Capital One Cup victory over Rotherham.
