Ayr’s Western meeting continues in earnest, with the feature of the weekend the Ayr Gold Cup looking fiendishly difficult, but we have three selections to earn some extra income over the weekend at both the Scottish track and at Newbury.

It’s not just the easy manner of his last victory that makes this colt our bet of the day, but the form that contest has since heralded.
That eased-down success in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes saw him finish 1 1/4 lengths clear of Cotai Glory. That horse has since gone on to win the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, before dumping jockey George Baker just before the line when having a Group 2 at his mercy.
Henry Candy’s juvenile could be something special as he bids to make it four from four.
And with his trainer’s impressive 33 per cent strike rate with his two-year-olds this season, it’s worth taking Ryan Moore’s mount to see off an admittedly useful field.
A late bloomer on the big stage, David Griffiths’ gelding was a neck winner of the Group 2 King George in August.
He previously landed a Listed contest at York, getting the better of subsequent Group 1 winner G Force, and has been a consistent sort this campaign.
He has two 8s in his form this season, but a closer look shows that both of those defeats came in Group 1s at the expense at one of the best around in Sole Power, going down by just two lengths both times.
With Ryan Moore booked to ride, and conditions fine, he looks an each way bet to nothing for those who are cautious of backing him on the nose.
While we are going to swerve the Gold Cup, a chance can be taken with Tatlisu, in the consolation race, the Silver Cup.
Like our other two selections this week, Richard Fahey’s four-year-old has had some form franked very strongly this season.
He narrowly defeated subsequent Portland Handicap winner Muthmir in June, and finished ¼ length behind Symphony Group Stakes winner Blaine in the Scottish Stewards Cup.
His rise in the weights has not been unduly harsh, and should run a big race as he looks to improve on his third in the Bronze Cup 12 months ago.
