First home win since April among 3 Luton v Plymouth top tips

Published:

Despite being many pundits pre-season League Two fancies, Conference Premier champions Luton have won just once since returning to the 92-team ladder and are yet to taste success at their Kenilworth Road home.

That looks set to change when Plymouth amble into town. Here are the three best bets ahead of the Bedfordshire battle.

Both teams to score and Luton to win @ 7/2

The Hatters are yet to taste victory at home since returning to the Football League last April, although it has not been for the want of trying.

Two one-goal losses, with the latter coming after Luton had taken the lead, have been followed by a scrambling draw at home to Bury last time out.

John Still’s side are getting closer to that elusive win and have bagged in five of their seven fixtures this season, so goals haven’t been the main problem.

They take on a Plymouth outfit who have scored in every game since the opening day, but are yet to avoid defeat away from home in 2014/15.

Reuben Reid to score @ 7/4

A case barely needs making for Reid, who has struck five times in six fixtures this season, including two in the Capital One Cup at home to League One Leyton Orient.

The 26-year-old will be out to make it three scoring appearances in a row and takes Plymouth’s penalties. Get on.

First half to produce most goals @ 2/1

Three of Luton’s first five League Two games of the season would have seen this bet come up, with pre-pie strikes beating their second-45 equivalents 7-3 in those fixtures.

Considering Plymouth’s away League Two matches thus far have seen two first-half goals and two second-half goals, 2/1 looks a price worth having.
