Swansea hoping to hijack Hull’s move for World Cup winger

Garry Monk wants to recruit in two positions in order to complete what he believes will be a competitive squad this season.

According to the South Wales Evening Post the Swans’ former centre-half wants a winger and a left-back to round off his 25-man party, but in order to land his wide-man he’ll have to rub Hull City up the wrong way.

The Tigers are reportedly close to landing a £6m move for Marseille and Ghana forward Andre Ayew, but Monk has designs on the World Cup star.

Ayew scored two goals for the Black Stars during the Brazil-based tournament and has 34 to his name in 125 Ligue appearances for L’OM.

An international veteran of 51 caps, Ayew is able to play on either flank as well as through the middle, offering Monk the kind of versatility he surely craves from any potential incoming winger on deadline day.

Swansea are a long 10/1 shot to beat Chelsea when Premier League action returns after the international break.
