Blackpool v Cardiff: Tangerines to be squashed by Bluebirds

Published:

This Friday’s Championship encounter between Blackpool and Cardiff City reads like a recipe for goals: take the division’s worst team, without a win all season, and mix with an underachieving side with Premier League ambitions and a squad out to impress an incoming new manager.

Serve on a cool October evening in front of some hostile home support and enjoy – especially if you are one of the many Ladbrokes punters casting your eye over this encounter.

Cardiff may be the away side but at 21/20 for an away win they certainly look a tasty prospect for victory with the draw available at 12/5.

Somewhat less palatable, however, are the odds of 5/2 offer on a victory for the winless, hapless and thoroughly hopeless Blackpool.

Ahead of kick-off, however, we’ve had a look over the menu to bring you the specials of the day – our three best bets – bon appetite!

Both teams to score and Cardiff to win @ 7/2

Despite enduring a nightmare start to the season, Blackpool are at least beginning to score goals with Nathan Delfouneso and Ishmail Miller finding the net in the Tangerines’ most recent Championship encounters with Norwich City and Middlesbrough respectively.

Given the calibre of those sides, it’s not inconceivable to see Jose Riga’s team getting on the scoresheet here, though it could ultimately be as part of a Cardiff win. The Bluebirds have also conceded in four of the five victories they have recorded this season.

Half-time/Full-time – Draw/Cardiff @ 4/1

Despite a return of just one point from the five Championship games they have played at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool have fared well – in the opening halves of their home encounters at least.

The Seasiders have gone in level at the break in each of their previous four home games in the league and with the Tangerines going on to taste defeat in three of those encounters, a second half show could be on the cards for Cardiff.

Over 2.5 goals to be scored @ 11/10

The banker of the three bets, it’s the visitors’ goal record, coupled with the poor form of Blackpool that makes this one to watch.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Cardiff’s last four Championship games, while over 2.5 goals have also been racked up in four of their five wins this term. Norwich won 3-1 the last time the Seasiders hosted and a similar scoreline is not inconceivable.
