Bury to beat Tranmere @ 8/11

After weeks of tipping up Tranmere and ultimately being disappointed, it’s time to twist the proverbial knife into misfiring Rovers.

Winless since August and limping into this contest on a run that’s seen the Prenton Park outfit lose three of their last five games, Bury should be able to take all three points against the visitors.

David Flitcroft’s high-flyers will be eager to erase the memory of last week’s defeat to Exeter and collect a fifth straight home victory.

Newport to beat Oxford @ 19/10

Struggling Oxford had a four-match unbeaten run halted by Luton last week and another loss could be on the cards at the Kassam Stadium.

Newport have recovered well from a poor start to the season, and having already beaten Portsmouth on their own patch, Justin Edinburgh’s side won’t be fazed by the challenge ahead.

The U’s have only won once in their last eight League Two matches on home turf and the locals look set to be in for more disappointment.

Portsmouth to beat York @ 11/5

Last season’s charge to the play-offs must seem like a distant memory to York fans with the Minstermen only managing one success so far this term.

Andy Awford’s Portsmouth outfit hardly set the world alight away from their Fratton Park fortress but given the hosts’ poor form they can be confident of reversing that trend at Bootham Crescent.

A run of six games without a win at home is ominous for York with three defeats in their last four outings another reminder of the team’s current plight.

Cheltenham to beat AFC Wimbledon @ 11/10

Both of these sides could do with a morale boosting success but it’s Cheltenham who get the nod from us.

AFC Wimbledon go into this encounter having lost their previous two matches away from south-west London, with a 4-1 drubbing at Newport last time out a particular hammer blow.

Meanwhile, the Robins have suffered only one loss in their previous five games as hosts and can use last season’s 1-0 win in the corresponding fixture as inspiration.

Plymouth to beat Shrewsbury @ 9/5

The familiar surroundings of Home Park have often provided Plymouth’s saving grace and this looks likely to continue when the Greens entertain travel-sick Shrewsbury.

The visitors may well have lofty ambitions but to seriously challenge for promotion they’ll need to stop a sequence of three straight defeats on the road.

We don’t think the Shrews have got it in their locker which is why a Pilgrims side who’ve won three of their five home games in 2014-15 are our final pick.
