Pietersen on course to outsell Keane by Christmas

| 08.10.2014

Nothing points to winter more than a drop in temperature, waterlogged pitches and a glut of sporting autobiographies.

The first two things on the list may be just around the corner but the last is already here with Kevin Pietersen, Roy Keane, Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell all recently hitting the headlines with their outspoken views.

Keane can probably boast the most column inches at the moment but of the four, Ladbrokes have priced KP’s tome to be the bestseller come Christmas.

Here Ladbrokes News runs the rule over the books and gives odds on outselling its rivals.

KP The Autobiography – Kevin Pietersen @ 5/6

The South African-born former England star has never been far from controversy but he has pulled no punches even for him in this damning indictment of the international cricket set-up.

Andy Flower and Matt Prior have come in for the most criticism, with KP accusing the former coach of building “a regime” instead of a team and the labelling the wicketkeeper as a “back-stabbing”, “horrendous” team mate.

Critics have already rounded on the author but that should only serve to ramp up the intrigue.

The Second Half – Roy Keane with Roddy Doyle @ 11/1

Keane picks up where he left off from his first instalment by reiterating the fact he doesn’t regret his career-ending challenge on Alf Inge Haaland, calling Sir Alex Ferguson a “f***ing p**ck” and revealing the time he headbutted Peter Schmeichel in a pre-season fight.

Whether you’re a Manchester United fan or not will shape your opinion on Keane but either way his opinions cannot be ignored!

#2Sides – Rio Ferdinand @ 10/1

After being ushered through the back door at the end of his glittering Manchester United career Ferdinand can be excused a few Old Trafford grumps, but his surprising target is Wayne Rooney.

Rio describes the forward as a “very angry young man” but saves his harshest words for the Kick it Out campaign and Fabio Capello’s England methods.

Sol Campbell: The Authorised Biography – Sol Campbell @ 33/1

This is the outsider given it came out earlier this year but the media hype surrounding the others could mean a late sales surge for the former Tottenham and Arsenal legend.

Again the England set-up comes in for harsh criticism, with Campbell claiming he would have been England captain for 10 years – rather than three games – had he been white.
