USA Grand Prix perfect stage for another Hamilton triumph

| 27.10.2014

When Sebastian Vettel won the USA Grand Prix last year, it was the eighth of his ludicrous nine-race winning streak at the end of the season.

This time around, the race is set to be part of another incredible run, as Lewis Hamilton is bidding to make it five wins in row and extend his 17-point Drivers’ Championship lead over Nico Rosberg.

The British driver is 8/13 to top the podium in Texas, and it is not only his recent form that makes it well worth grabbing those odds.

Hamilton has an enviable record in the United States, having won two of the three races he has participated in there.

The 29-year-old secured first-place for McLaren in 2007 in the last race in Indianapolis, before the USA Grand Prix dropped off the calendar until 2012, when he won it again as the track in Austin made its debut.

Last season Hamilton could only manage fourth-place, but that represented his best finish in the final eight races of the season as the Mercedes car struggled for pace.

Now sitting in the best car on the grid, it looks almost certain that the British driver will grab another win at a track he clearly enjoys visiting.

After his win in 2012, Hamilton praised the Circuit of the Americas to high heavens, claiming it was perhaps even already up in the top three tracks on the calendar.

As ever, his main competition will be teammate Rosberg, who is 9/4 to win and has finished second behind Hamilton in three of the past four races.

Daniel Ricciardo is the only non-Mercedes driver to win a race all season, having topped the podium three times, but indifferent form means that even his 16/1 odds of winning in America aren’t tempting.
