Real Madrid to come back in for Spurs’ best player yet again

First it was Luka Modric, then Gareth Bale and now it looks as if Tottenham may lose arguably there next best player to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are reportedly ready to stump up a colossal £20m bid for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in January.

While the fee is not quite a quarter of the world record-breaking sum Spurs collected for Bale’s transfer, in keeper terms it is massive.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is thought to hold reservations about the ongoing form of their own veteran stopper Iker Casillas, 33.

The former Chelsea boss is therefore sizing up possible long-term replacements and at 27 the French national team captain is among the finest net minders in world football.

At the beginning of another season of inconsistency so far for Tottenham, their standout performer has yet again been Lloris

Since arriving from Lyon in 2012 Lloris quickly forged a reputation as one of the most nimble shot-stoppers in the Premier League, but backed up with courage and a commanding presence.

In one of Tottenham’s recent Europa League ties at home to Besiktas the Frenchman single-handedly fended off the Turkish side for the final 30 minutes at White Hart Lane, making a string of world class saves to ensure his side held on for a point.

After a troubling loss in the league at home to Newcastle last time out, Tottenham are still priced up as 11/10 favourites to win at Aston Villa in Sunday’s late kick-off.
