Strictly Come Dancing Wk 10: Jake to Tango his way to top score

| 29.11.2014

After Steve and Ola bit the Strictly Come Dancing dust in week nine, fellow dance-off contenders Sunetra and Brendan are the overlwhelming favourites to crash out in week 10, while Pixie Lott is fancied to top the judges’ scorecards by Ladbrokes.

Pixie has consistently wowed the judges during the show and her week nine Charleston alongside partner Trent Whiddon was among her most dazzling displays.

There is no doubting the blonde beauty was born to dance and Ladbrokes have installed Lott as the 15/8 market leader for the famous Glitter Ball Trophy, while the pop princess also rates as the 6/4 fave to extract top marks from Len Goodman and co this weekend.

However, as alluring as that Charleston was, Pixie’s combined tally of 37 points wasn’t quite enough to earn her top spot as two other couples managed to match pip her with 38.

Fellow pop star Frankie Sandford of Saturdays fame, absolutely nailed her Viennese Waltz alongside partner Kevin Clifton.

Frankie makes a tempting-looking bet to top score again at 15/8, though facing the Jive for the first time in the show; there could be better weeks to back the former S Club Junior.

All this means that Eastenders actor Jake Wood is the Strictly star of choice this week, having matched Frankie’s 38 in show nine and crucially staring at a strong dance in the pipeline.

Jake and Janette are due to take on the Argentine Tango and if their plaudit-earning performance in the very first week is anything to go by, the 6/1 about the couples plundering top marks again could have punters dancing around the living room in delight.

Things appear much grimmer for Sunetra Sarker though, as the Casualty actress is the strong 1/4 favourite to be axed and with the competition now so fierce, it is almost banker material.
