Arsenal and Manchester United battling for Blues reject

A former Chelsea player with just nine Blues appearances to his name, Kevin De Bruyne’s time in English football may not have qualified as a success but that has not stopped two of the Premier League’s biggest sides from being linked to the 23-year-old.
Brought to Stamford Bridge from Genk for £7m back in January 2012 the playmaker spent two seasons away from London on loan, firstly with his former Belgian employers and then in Germany with Werder Bremen.
It was with the latter that he impressed most, scoring 10 goals and providing a further 11 assists in 34 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit before returning to the capital with Blues boss Jose Mourinho assuring the youngster that he had a future with the club.
But after failing to earn a regular starting berth for Chelsea during the 2013-14 season and amid concerns he may miss out on a place in Belgium’s squad at the World Cup, the playmaker decided to push for a move away, eventually signing for Wolfsburg in January of last year in an £18m deal.
It’s proved to be a wise move for the 23-year-old, who has been a revelation for the Wolves since, scoring nine goals and providing a further 40 assists for the Bundesliga outfit.
And his efforts have evidently not gone unnoticed either with The Mirror reporting that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is weighing up a bid for the Belgian.
The Red Devils boss is not alone in his admiration of the attacking midfielder though, with The Telegraph also claiming that Arsenal are keeping close tabs on the player.
Arsene Wenger is thought to be in the market for a player fitting the Belgian’s description, with the Gunners also the current front-runners to sign Isco from Real Madrid this January.
Ladbrokes has the north London club priced at 7/2 to sign the Spaniard this month, though with some reports claiming it could take a bid of up to £64m to prise the player away from Los Blancos, a move for De Bruyne could prove a more palatable prospect.
