Desperate Hull want Lokomotiv man to ease striker crisis

| 23.01.2015

With the walls appearing to close in on Steve Bruce at the KC Stadium, the beleaguered Hull boss is frantically searching for players capable of halting their relentless advance.

Injuries to his first-choice strikers Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez have compounded an already serious-looking situation towards the nether regions of the Premier League, where a two-point gap is all that stands between the Tigers and bottom spot.

Help could be at hand for the 6/4-relegation chances, though, in the form of Lokomotiv Moscow striker Dame N’Doye, with popular website Goal.com reporting a £3m bid has been launched.

N’Doye, 29, is currently representing Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, but may soon be swapping West Africa for Humberside if Bruce gets his way.

Although N’Doye could be viewed as somewhat of a journeyman, having played in Qatar, Portugal, Greece, Denmark and latterly Russia, encouragingly goals have always been forthcoming.

His current tally of 27 in 65 Russian Premier League appearances for Lokomotiv is a pretty accurate reflection of a career scoring record of a goal every 2.3 games.

These sorts of stats are exactly what Hull need given the current state of things at the KC.

The Tigers have failed to score in any of their last three matches and in six of their last eight in all competitions, losing every one of those half-dozen as a result.

Club-record signing Hernandez has utterly failed to justify his price tag, scoring only three times since switching from Palermo in the summer, and not since October has the now-injured Uruguayan located the onion bag.

Midfielder Mohamed Diame had contributed four league goals before being struck down with a long-term knee injury in December, while the six goals to Jelavic’s name are the most anyone has scored in the top-flight this season for Hull.
