Kamara: Agent’s comments highlight seriousness of Falcao situation

| 16.01.2015

Until recently it appeared that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was beginning to stamp his authority at Old Trafford.

But this past week has served as a timely reminder to the Dutchman of the difficulties he faces at one of the world’s top clubs.

Van Gaal’s decision to leave out on-loan Colombian striker Radamel Falcao for United’s recent 1-0 home defeat to Southampton left a number of fans and pundits scratching their heads, as well as the player himself very unhappy.

And while the pair have allegedly cleared the air, Falcao’s future at the Red Devils looks in serious doubt with Ladbrokes going 8/1 that the former Monaco man leaves in the January transfer window and 1/4 that he’s not a United player before the start of the 2015/16 season.

Reacting to the latest events, Chris Kamara gave his exclusive verdict to Ladbrokes News.

“It’s strange. He’s not had enough game time but when’s played he’s always produced something. He’s a goalscorer, a finisher”, Kammy said.

“I listened to Van Gaal’s reasons as to why he left him out against Southampton and I wasn’t convinced by him saying that he needed to get the right balance in the matchday squad and that Falcao didn’t fit into that plan.”

“Falcao’s been quite happy to sit on the bench but to leave him out entirely is questionable.”

The fact that agent Jorge Mendes has also weighed in on the issue has also not gone unnoticed, especially given the nature of his criticism of Van Gaal and his own doubts around where Falcao’s future lies.

“When you get people like Jorge Mendes saying that players could leave a club if they don’t play you know there is something going on. He’s a top agent and not the sort of person who goes around interfering in club policy so it’s clear that something isn’t right at Old Trafford”, Kammy added.

“I thought LvG would come out and say that Falcao had a niggle but he now’s put himself under pressure and there’s unrest.”

Manchester United travel to face QPR this weekend with the visitors 8/13 to triumph while the draw is priced at 3/1 and the hosts are the 9/2 outsiders.
