Arsenal considering move for bargain Inter Milan free agent

Arsenal could bolster their ranks with the recruitment of former Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Olsen, who is without a club following his release by the Serie A outfit.

The 20-year-old’s deal with the Nerazzurri was cancelled last week with the player spending time on trial with Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem most recently.

However The Express is now claiming that the Gunners could be set to make a move for the Denmark Under-21 international who came through the ranks at Brondby prior to moving to Italy in 2013.

Olsen also spent time on loan at Stromsgodset in Norway last year but opted to depart Inter after failing to feature for the first-team in Serie A during his time in Milan, making just one appearance in the Coppa Italia for the club.

A central midfielder by trade, who is capable of playing in either a defensive role or further forward if required, Olsen was linked with a move to the Emirates last year with Arsenal keeping close tabs on the Scandinavian star.

With Inter opting to cancel his contract, the 20-year-old could sign for Arsenal at any time with the Gunners potentially offering the Dane a deal in the coming days.

Despite his status as a major youth prospect, however, some question marks remain over the player’s attitude with Olsen earning three red cards while playing for the reserves on loan at Stromsgodset and his abrupt Inter exit remains shrouded in mystery.

Any move to Arsenal is likely to see the midfielder competing with new signing Krystian Bielik from next season.

The 17-year-old Pole arrived from Legia Warsaw last month in a deal worth £2.7m and there had been some suggestions that he was in line for an appearance against Leicester last week.

Fellow Gunners new boy Gabriel was on the bench for that game with the Brazilian recruited from Villarreal for £11.3m last month.
