Who is Manchester United target and ‘new Neymar’ Robert Kenedy?

Years after missing out on Ronaldinho Manchester United may finally land a Brazilian wonder kid after Fluminense striker Robert Kenedy was linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old, full name Robert Kenedy Nunes do Nascimento, has scored just two goals for the Brazilian outfit thus far but has put in some impressive displays for the Selecao’s U17 and U20 teams.

These performances have led to the inevitable tag off the “new Neymar” but at 5ft11 and with a certain degree of power in his locker the new Hulk might be a more apt description – although no one is looking for a new Hulk.

Judging by the technique shown in the below clip, however, there is plenty to suggest the United target could go on to exceed the heights reached by his Marvel-named compatriot.

The Red Devils will face a battle to sign the teenager – not least because of permit issues – with Internazionale also interested in acquiring his services.

However, with the Old Trafford club having an established relationship with Fluminense after taking the Da Silva twins to the north-west it is thought the Premier League side are the most likely destination for the young forward.

A fee of around £5m has been mooted and while that may seem high for an as yet unproven striker, it could represent far greater value than shelling out £43m for Falcao, whose stock appears to fall further every time he dons the United shirt.

Next up for Louis van Gaal’s men is a trip to the Liberty Stadium for a game that sees them priced as 10/11 favourites to beat Swansea.

Another blank for Falcao though, and LVG could be straight on the phone to the Maracana!
