Manchester United man absent as England “passed him by”

Manchester United star Ashley Young may be in the midst of a significant upturn in form, but that will mean little to England manager Roy Hodgson.
That is according to former Red Devils favourite Phil Neville, who earned 59 caps for the Three Lions during a glittering career.
Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes News this week, the one-time England international offered up a painfully accurate assessment of the Manchester United man’s chances of getting back into contention for the Three Lions.
“Ashley Young has been fantastic but with the way Roy Hodgson has been going with this team I think his chances of getting selected are very slim unless injuries occur,” he explained.
Neville was keen to point the England manager’s renewed focus on youth – something that he felt made a recall highly unlikely.
“Roy is going down a route now where he is picking younger players looking to the Euros in France and World Cup in Russia.
“Even though Young is in the form of his career, I think England has passed him by.”
The likes of Harry Kane and Ryan Mason could be in line for a starting berth against Lithuania on Friday with England already well on course to qualify for Euro 2016 in France.
Young, meanwhile, will look to continue his impressive form and help Manchester United return to the Champions League at the end of the season.
