Falcao & lederhosen: The top tweets from Bayern Munich’s Porto win

Published:

It’s hard to believe it now but Bayern Munich went into their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Porto as underdogs to progress, yet after a first-half Bavarian football master class, Twitter was awash with comment.

The Bundesliga champions were at their imperious best, with the Portuguese visitors put to the sword in a performance that had fans purring.

Here are just some of the social media highlights from the game.

With Bayern racing into a 5-0 lead by half-time, there were heat maps and pitch maps aplenty to enjoy, all of which served to highlight their dominance.

BBC Sport went with this rather traditional looking one…

While Squawka decided to highlight the fact the Bavarians had had a lot of shots at goal…

This rather unique edition did Porto few favours either…

> Still, at least the trolls were out in force to remind Manchester United fans that their club made a rather expensive mistake last summer.

Having gone in five goals up at half-time, there were also plenty keen to mock Bayern’s Portuguese opposition of course.

Because, from the looks of things, they are really good at keeping hold of the ball, which did not bode well for the second-half.

Even a certain Mr Hasselbaink got in on the action.

The usual Simpsons-related gag was rolled out by Bleacher Report.

While the enduring image of the night on Twitter must surely be the sight of Thomas Muller dancing in lederhosen.
