When Spurs fail to finish in the top four this season, their number one priority for the summer should be convincing Hugo Lloris to stay at White Hart Lane, rather than any shopping spree.
The French skipper is rumoured to be mulling over his future in north London as another year of non-Champions League football looms large.

The Red Devils would be crackers to want to willingly part with David de Gea after the Spaniard has compiled one of the best seasons by a Manchester United goalkeeper since the Peter Schmeichel era, but things may be out of their hands.
Real Madrid are reportedly keen on landing the Madrid native which, if it happens, would send the Old Trafford club on the hunt for a replacement.
With Louis van Gaal’s side improving all the time as the season wears on, Lloris’ cravings for regular Champions League football look likely to be satisfied more often as a Red Devil.
Of course, Los Blancos could fail in their pursuit of the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper, in which case Lloris could well come into play as the Spanish giants’ next best option to replace Iker Casillas.
Rumours that Carlo Ancelotti’s club are cooling on the thought of bringing De Gea to the Bernabeu play right into the Spurs captain’s hands. The Frenchman would likely only have to wait a maximum of one year before Casillas was on his way too.
A sign of a good goalkeeper can always be found in the number of high-quality sides that are chasing his signature. That is certainly the case for the former Lyon gloveman, who has a trio of Champions League giants flocking around him.
Certainly a return to his homeland would appeal to the 28-year-old, but whether the club want to fly so close to the mark in terms of Financial Fair Play rules in order to land him, considering they have Salvatore Sirigu already, remains to be seen.
