Premier League Darts: MVG the only double winner to back in Cardiff

Published:

With the PDC Premier League Darts firmly into its second phase, two men can secure their semi-final status in Cardiff, as Michael van Gerwen doubles up on the night and Dave Chisnall takes on a resurgent reigning champion.

Tournament favourite MVG only needs one more victory to be assured of a place in the last four, but facing two separate opponents on the night, there looks every chance he could reach the semi-finals stylishly in south Wales.

Although Raymond van Barneveld’s unexpected 7-3 triumph in Aberdeen ended his 10-game unbeaten run, Mighty Mike will fancy his chances of beating James Wade, before polishing the evening off with victory over world champion Gary Anderson.

MVG is 8/13 and 10/11 to complete Premier League doubles over the pair this season, which pays just shy of 2/1 as a multiple bet.

Wade is without a win in two matches, while Anderson’s thunder has subsided in the wake of a defeat to Chisnall, sandwiched between two draws going into week three of phase two.

However, the Flying Scotsman can at least get back on track in his first match against Stephen Bunting, whom he has defeated on the last three occasions, giving rise to his 4/7 price.

Stoke’s two finest Tungsten slingers draw battle lines in a classic match-up and thanks to Adrian Lewis stringing together three wins, this should be a spicy one.

Chasing a fourth successive win over his old Potteries foe, Taylor is an understandable 10/11 favourite.

However, in his current form the 5/4 on Lewis in the Draw No Bet column certainly appeals, as does 2/1 on the Power peppering the lipstick more frequently, having topped the 180s chart alongside Anderson up in Scotland.
