Argentine strike ace could be the answer for Stoke City

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is considering an injection of South American talent to his front line, with Independiente striker Lucas Albertengo a target for the Potters.
Argentine newspaper Diario Castellanos has claimed that representatives from the Britannia Stadium were at Independiente’s recent 1-1 draw with Boca Juniors to cast an eye on the 24-year-old forward.
Albertengo impressed too, scoring his side’s only goal of the game, and has now hit seven goals in 12 appearances since arriving from Atletico de Rafaele in January.
The Potters strikeforce hasn’t set the world alight this season, with Mame Biram Diouf the only player to reach double figures with 10 strikes.
Peter Odemwingie, Peter Crouch, Jonathan Walters, Bojan Krcic and Marko Arnautovic combined for a tally of just 19 goals and if Albertengo arrives and maintains his current scoring record at least one of those players would see their Britannia future thrown into doubt.
Albertengo can play anywhere across the frontline though and insists he brings more to the table than just goals, telling the newspaper: “Every player likes to score goals but I’m not just a goal scorer.
“I also like to play for the team and generate chances. I’m not selfish. My first thought is for the team.”
Next up for Stoke is a trip to already-relegated Burnley for which Mark Hughes’ side are priced as marginal outsiders at 17/10.
The Clarets can be backed at 13/8 to give their fans something to cheer about despite the drop but with cementing a top 10 finish up for grabs the Potters could prove the value pick.
