Exit poll suggests Tories are certs and bookies face a bashing

David Cameron and the Conservatives are heading towards another UK General Election victory, leaving bookmakers facing a £20m payout if the results of the latest exit poll hold up.

Figures released shortly after voting ended at 22:00 BST have prompted Ladbrokes to cut the odds on the Tories winning the most seats to just 1/100 with Labour pushed out to 16/1.

Current incumbent David Cameron is now just 4/5 to be the next Prime Minister while Ed Miliband is a 16/1 long-shot to assume the position.

The Conservatives are predicted to be the largest party with 316 seats with Labour 239, the Liberal Democrats 10 and the Scottish National Party on 52.

Meanwhile, it’s estimated that UKIP and the Greens will each pick up two seats.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The message is clear – it would now be one of the biggest shocks of all time should Cameron not return to 10 Downing Street. The odds of coalition 2.0 have also crashed but a Conservative majority now looks a distinct possibility too.”
