Newcastle United will probably be looking out for one, Sunderland will be definitely be in the market and so will, most likely, West Ham United.
We are talking, of course, about managers with the summer months offering a time for clubs to reflect before making wholesale changes designed to dodge the mistakes of the past.
But with English clubs growing increasingly tired of re-employing the likes of Gary Megson, it seems like Premier League clubs are increasingly turning to the continent in search of the next big thing.
With that in mind we’ve come up with a rather neat short-list of three managers who could be heading to a top-flight side near you very soon.
Christophe Galtier – St Etienne
In charge of Les Verts since 2009, Galtier guided the sleeping giants of French football to the Coupe de La Ligue in 2013 – their first piece of silverware in some 31 years – and is responsible for blooding in young stars like Kurt Zouma and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
With St Etienne regularly competing in and around the European places in Ligue 1 but unlikely to displace the mega-rich AS Monaco or PSG a fresh challenge could suit Galtier, who has already been linked to Newcastle United.
Sergio Conceicao – Sporting Braga
A familiar face to fans of Italian football, having starred for the likes of Inter Milan and Lazio as a player, Conceicao also notched up a memorable hat-trick for Portugal against an ageing Germany side at Euro 2000.
Since hanging up his boots in 2010, the 40-year-old has made steady progress as a manager with a string of lesser Portuguese clubs before being given the reins at Braga last summer.
Conceicao has worked wonders this term too, with The Archbishops qualifying for the Europa League in fourth.
Markus Weinzierl – FC Augsburg
The Bundesliga’s very own fairytale story – Weinzierl made his name with Bavarian minnows SSV Jahn Regensburg in the German fourth tier before earning a move to Augsburg in the summer of 2012.
In his first season in charge the 40-year-old helped the unfancied side avoid relegation with Augsburg finishing 15th in a campaign that saw them beat Bayern Munich for the first time in their history in a win that also ended the Bavarian’s 53-game winning streak.
Things have got even better for the young German this season, with Augsburg on course to qualify for the Europa League having finished eighth last season.
