This weekend sees the start of the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada and so a chance for the best players in the world, and some up and coming talents, to make their names on the biggest stage.
Current Ballon d’Or holder and Germany captain Nadine Kessler will unfortunately miss out through injury but there are plenty of women ready and able to fill the void and here are just five.
Desiree Scott – Canada 10/1 to win World Cup
There is a certain pressure when playing as hosts so Canada will be relieved to have their enforcer Desiree Scott to call upon.

A gifted dribbler blessed with unerring vision and pin point accuracy the Lyon ace will be the key to France’s success this time round.
Marta – Brazil 7/1 to win World Cup
Arguably the biggest star in the Women’s game Marta has spearheaded the Brazil attack for over a decade and shows no sign of letting up.
With 14 goals Marta is the joint all-time leading scorer at the Women’s World Cup and if you were going to back just one player to score in Canada it would be the 29-year-old five-time FIFA World Player of the Year.
Eniola Aluko – England 20/1 to win World Cup
Named the Young Player of the Year in 2003 Aluko will carry the hopes of a nation on her shoulders 12 years later in Canada.
The Chelsea ace possesses lightening pace and is equally deadly out wide or playing through the middle, giving manager Mark Sampson plenty of attacking options to ponder.
Having played in the US for three seasons the 28-year-old is a cultured operator and a strong showing from her could see the Three Lionesses finally reach the business end of a tournament.
