Mexico v Ecuador: Even Enner can’t stop La Tri crashing out early

Published:

Both Mexico and Ecuador went someway to making amends for drawing blanks in their opening Copa America matches by netting two and three goals each respectively – though neither were able to secure a win.

This match becomes a must win for the latter having tasted defeat to both Chile and Bolivia already.

Mexico meanwhile need a win to put them through automatically and avoid the uncertainty of third place in the group and are 7/5 to secure that victory.

The opposing La Tri are 19/10, though those fancying an upset could do worse than backing an Enner Valencia Wincast at 4/1 – the West Ham man has netted six goals in his nation’s last five wins.

However looking at the stats, it looks likely to be ‘adios’ for his nation at the earliest possible stage.

And with a 1-0 scoreline already adorning five of the 11 fixtures played in this tournament so far, another could be on the cards with the favourites the beneficiaries.

Don’t take our word for it though, here’s the Professor with more:

DID YOU KNOW?

Mexico have won 10 of their last 13 matches against Ecuador

Mexico have drawn the first half in their last six competitive games

Six of Mexico’s last eight matches had Under 2.5 goals

At least one team has failed to score in six of Mexico’s last eight games

Ecuador have lost four of their last six matches, but have only lost one of their last 14 games by more than one goal.

Recommended Bet: Mexico to win 1-0 @ 15/2

Peru v Venezuela

Peru may have felt hard done by to taste defeat against Brazil in their opening Copa America match, thanks to a 92nd minute Douglas Costa goal.

But Los Incas are 13/8 to bounce back with a win against Venezuela and continue their hopes of progression in what is now a very open Group C.

Their opponents meanwhile come here off the back of an odd-goal victory over Brazil’s latest conquerors Colombia in the opening round of fixtures.

It may come as somewhat of a surprise then that Noel Sanvicente’s side come into this contest as 15/8 underdogs.

While they should be backed to cause a mini-upset in a game full of goals, don’t expect them to get the job done early.

A tight first half with Los Llaneros coming out on top in the end looks a solid bet, as demonstrated with the stats from the man with all the knowledge:

DID YOU KNOW?

Both teams have scored in four of Peru’s last five matches

Peru have only trailed at half-time in one of their last six games and have drawn the first half in seven of their last eight competitive fixtures

Venezuela have won five of their last eight games against Peru, including their last two meetings

Eight of Venezuela’s last 10 games had Over 2.5 goals

Venezuela have drawn the first half in 10 of their last 12 competitive games

Peru have lost seven of their last 10 competitive matches when they were level at half-time

Recommended Bet: HT/FT: Draw/Venezuela @ 5/1
